MISSION OF BOYS II MEN
Under the guidance of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, the Boys II Men program was founded in 2002. The Boys II Men program was initiated to help young men ages 9 - 18 journey towards manhood based on strong Christian values, Godly knowledge, and Scriptural based life applications. Ultimately, each young man is challenged to work within their spiritual gifting and talents to fulfill God’s purpose and plan for their lives.
Each young man in the program is referred to as a Soldier or Warrior depending on their age. As part of their transition to manhood and presentation to society, the young men endures a Rights of Passage Program that requires them to complete the following three phases over three years:
The Warriors achieve the goals and objectives of the program through Workshops, Community Service, Mentorship, Tutoring, Fellowship, Summer Jobs/Training, Learning a Trade, Internships and other activities of cultural enrichment. PURPOSE
Each Soldier and Warrior that completes the three year program is provided the opportunity to punctuate their rights of passage by taking a journey to the Diaspora of Africa. The purpose of the trip will be to provide a cultural exchange and an educational experience that will reconnect these young men to their heritage. They get an opportunity to participate in a tri-annual mission that focuses on educational, economics, and health and wellness literacy in the African Continent. The trip is scheduled for 2011. We are currently seeking sponsors for the 2010 Boys II Men Program and the 2011 Rites of Passage to Africa. We are also seeking men that are interested in becoming a life coach or mentor to help each young man develop and benefit from an intentional circle of influence that will hold them accountable for walking in their God given destiny.
