licensed to preach on May 20, 1980, and was ordained to the Gospel Ministry
on May 20, 1983 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan under
the leadership of Reverend S. L. Whitney. He founded and organized the
Spirit Filled Baptist Church in 1980 composed of approximately one hundred
members.
In 1992, Pastor Roberson was called to minister
at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan. God
envisioned him with a seven point plan that would assist the church with its
growth. One of Pastor Roberson’s favorite bible quotations is, “Where there
is no vision, the people perish…” Proverbs 29:18. With the power of God, his
vision has been unfolding daily as witnessed by the increasing growth in
members. To accommodate the increase, a second Sunday service was started.
Through God’s Grace, Pastor Roberson is providing spiritual training and
teaching through Bible Study and inspiring members to work in God’s
vineyard. Many additional ministries have been added at the suggestion of
the pastor, such as Biblical Counseling, Spiritual Gifts, New Members
Orientation, Boys II Men Mentoring, Christian Debutants, an Administrative
Staff, Married Couples and a HIV/AIDS Awareness Ministry, Hype Hope Young
Adult Ministries along with re-vitalizing our Youth Ministries as well as
about (50) Fifty other active ministries to provide every member the
opportunity to share their spiritual gifts with the congregation and the
community.
Future: As we go forward under the power
of God and vision of Pastor Roberson, the seven-point plan for New Hope will
be realized in the church and community as we begin to implement programs
that will serve the needs of the members and surrounding communities.
In closing, Dr. Roberson believes God is the God
of consistency and order, not a God of chaos and confusion. We must have a
firm grasp on existing and potential needs, conditions, opportunities, and
barriers for our ministry here at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. We can
dream the impossible dream, walk the impossible walk, and reach the
impossible goal with God as our dream maker.
